Undergraduate study

Opportunities exist for undergraduate study in the following programme:

  • Bachelor of Health Science

We deliver 4 undergraduate Māori health courses:

  • MAOH501 – Hauora Māori and Environment (15 points)
  • MAOH600 – Te Korowai Oranga (15 points)
  • MAOH602 – Te Pūtake o te Waiora (15 points)
  • MAOH701 – Māori health Promotion (15 points)
  • MAOH702 – Applied Primary Māori Mental Health (15 points)

Postgraduate study

  • Doctor of Health Science (DHSc)
  • Master of Philosophy (MPhil)
  • Master of Health Science (MHSc)
  • Master of Public Health (MPH)
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Health Science (PDipHSc)
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health (PGDipPH)
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Health Science (PGCertHSc)
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Public Health (PGCerPH)

Scholarships are also available for students in these programmes.

Three Hauora Māori courses are offered as weekend block courses and one (MAOH801) is taught online. They are:

  • MAOH801 Te Rangahau Hauora Māori – Māori Health Research (15 points) – Taught online
  • MAOH803 Effective Supervision in Māori Health (15 points)
  • MAOH804 Te Hā o te Ora – Hauora Māori Development (15 points)
  • MAOH805 Te Pū o te Ora – Māori Health Praxis (15 points)

These four courses can be taken as part of a Postgraduate Certificate in Health Sciences (Māori Health) or as courses contributing to the above postgraduate certificate, postgraduate diploma and Master's degrees.

Study a single course

To complete only one Māori health course, you can enrol in a Certificate of Proficiency, as long as you meet the necessary entry criteria.
